Marcelyn Lebovitz (she/they) is a multidisciplinary singer, artist, educator, and tarot / oracle reader whose creations are something both fragile and deadly with a heavy helping of kick ass. Their current projects include their solo music project, curating and leading artistic events and workshops with their organization Soul Jar Collective, and reading tarot and oracle cards privately and at events.

       Though Marcelyn is multitalented, they primarily consider themself a contemporary vocalist, recording artist, and songwriter. Their music serves up singer-songwriter-y indie rock weirdness on a silver platter with a side of powerful vocals and cleverly crafted lyrics. Their singing has been lauded as “achingly emotional” (Reading Eagle, 2019), “fragile but deadly” (Collegian, 2017), and “with a voice that drips menacingly stabby lyrics in the most velvet venom tones” (Fuzzy Logic, 2019) and they are often praised for their powerful on-stage charisma and the richness and warmth of their voice. They have performed their original indie rock music all across the United States and have released three full length studio albums, which you can hear on all streaming services under just their first name.

       A long time performer and student of music, Marcelyn's vocal capabilities range from opera, to choral music, and beyond. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (BA General Music, Theatre Arts Minor) and the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts (Vocal Major). During her education, Marcelyn appeared in several opera productions, including Turn of the Screw (Mrs. Grose, Temple University), Iolanthe (Queen of the Fairies, Penn State), and more. She was also a member of the choirs Essence of Joy and Penn State Concert Choir for several years and is currently the alto section leader for Reading Choral Society. Marcelyn also has a talent for the art of burlesque and was a member of the vintage theater company Lady Grey’s Lovelies for several seasons, performing under the stage name Ms. Dalila June.

       Though most of Marcelyn’s career has been music-based, their work extends far past performing. They are also a co-founder and organizer of Soul Jar Collective, a small group of artists curating events, shows, and workshops in the Greater Philadelphia area. Through Soul Jar, Marcelyn teaches workshops that aim to help artists grow their own authentic voices and events that create a safe and welcoming environment for all soft weirdos. 

Marcelyn also has a love for “witchy shit” and has been practicing solitary witchcraft for most of their life, particularly the art of tarot and oracle card reading.        Marcelyn is also a visual artist who dabbles in many mediums, but particularly fiber / yarn, watercolors, and markers to create colorful, whimsical art, like knitwear, beaded jewelry, oracle cards, and more. She very rarely sells her art, advertised under the name YouCraftyBitch, at in-person events and through her Instagram. However, you can see her art everywhere she goes, as it is infused into all of her work and daily life. Aside from making silly little things to wear every day, Marcelyn also hand-makes all of the merch sold at her shows, creates all of the sets and costumes for her music videos, uses a handmade oracle deck for her readings, and so much more. She is a DIY artist through-and-through!
